Character Overview:
Imoen, the energetic, spunky (although occasionally suffering from post-traumatic stress
disorder-induced depression) thief-turned-mage grew up in Candlekeep with the famed ward of Gorion
and helped to end the Bhaalspawn War. Bhaalspawn herself, her darker urges seemed to manifest more
in chaotic mischief and an odd morbid humorotherwise she seemed to have an unusually benevolent spirit
that did well to fight off the more violent urges from her heritage. Being one of the very few
Bhaalspawn who actually survived the Bhaalspawn War, she very gladly gave up the portion of her
soul that was Bhaal's essence at the end and does not miss any power said essence ever gave or
might have given her. Her playful, childlike demeanor belies an observant and thoughtful nature.
Although some find her annoying, she responds to those she calls family and friends with a fierce
loyalty and a sometimes much-needed sense of humor. She has been known to be seen in the company
of rather interesting adventurers and do-gooders, and is rumored to have even entertained and
consulted with the likes of Elminster and Khelben Blackstaff. Remaining in her "root" territories of
the Western Heartlands and the Sword Coast, some in those areas hear the rumor she has started a thieves' guild that operates all the way up to the Sword Coast North. Asked about this, of course, she merely replies, "Heya, it's just me, Imoen."
Conversion Notes:
Since most players tended to use her as a "back-line" ranged fighter and spellcaster, I put a lot of her feats into ranged abilities. However, I thought "weapon finesse" would be useful for when she did do close attacks with a short sword or dagger, as may well happen in certain combat circumstances. There's gotta be a reason she always says "My blade will cut you down to size!" Finally, I chose her skills partly in deference to remembering that most of her "story" skills were based around sneaking and pickpocketing (e.g. stealing Keldorn's ring); I also tweaked her skills so it would be possible for future level-ups to make her an Arcane Trickster, which seems an ideal class for Imoen, IMHO. If you don't like that idea, you might want to shift the points in Tumble, Decipher Script, and Escape Artist elsewhere (although they are all also good skills for Imoen to have).
