I live in the mid-Atlantic with my imaginary friends Mimi and Kiki, who protect the areas under my bed from monsters thinking of moving in. In various parts of the universe, I have a father, stepmother, older sister, brother-in-law, and two adorable nieces. I also have a 91-year-old grandmother who is officially the most amazing person in the universe.
I love to write and hope one day to be published, but since I have a terrible habit of not finishing what I start, I make my living proofreading other people's writing instead. Which actually, perhaps scarily, I really, really enjoy. (Yes, I'm one of those grammar people. Blech.) I have a Master of Arts degree in English literature from the University of Pittsburgh, where I more or less focused on feminism and social gender construction. Historically, I tried to focus on medieval and renaissance literature, but due to lack of classes in that area I sort of accidentally gained more expertise on the fin de siècle. I plan on getting my PhD after I pay off my student loans and have made significant headway into my writing projects, so in other words I'll begin working on that in the year 2182. I have an unhealthy addiction to chocolate and computer games, love to sing, play violin and mandolin, and have about six thousand other hobbies to boot. Although in general a dreamer, I only have one really big (in my brain) lifelong dream, and that is to one day own a large garden overrun with roses and honeysuckle.
Please see my Links page for more of my interests and connections to friends' and family's pages. My Blog also lists the Internet communities I most often visit (though that isn't always too often anymore, sadly).
